Ellie’s Journey…

Ellie Karas needed a change from the fast paced life of Toronto as a head hunter. Still in her twenties she packed up her car and her little dog Juliet and drove west with no plan and just Tofino as the destination. Ellie learned to knit from her baba (grandmother) when she was very young and picked at several scarves over the years.  It wasn’t until her twenties that she really got bit by the fibre bug and she hasn’t put down her needles since.  After running her little yarn shop Knits by the Sea in Tofino for 2.5 years she has made the move to the Comox Valley where she now enjoys being surrounded by sheep, horses and living by the ocean.  She loves her shoes almost as much as her yarn and can often be seen in her heels knitting around town. She loves the west coast lifestyle and walks the beautiful beaches everyday with her two crazy dogs and runs the scenic trails as often as she can.
